Me with one-car garage -- >

LoOks great though, for you!!

Envious!

The Racor has some very bad quality reviews on Amazon suggesting a lot of checking and at times modifications must be done just to ensure standard performance. Has anyone tried the Harken hardtop self leveling overhead hoist? It's specifically made for removal and storage of "Jeep, Bronco, and other tops" . Here is the Amazon link which inlcudes a video of the hoist in use:

A buddy of mine bought the Harken lift. It seems to work well, but seems pricey to me for what it is. He has ambulance doors, so a liftgate is not an issue. The locking pulleys seem like a trick element here that you could not duplicate with stuff from Home Depot. So, it DOES work on his FJ40 top and he likes it.

I know that this is an old thread, but I appreciate it and I am absolutely going to do something like this! The Racor lift shows to be unavailable but I'll do some searching and find something similar I hope.

And 11 years later, nothing has changed ...:mad:

LOL! Now THAT is funny!!! My garage is full of crap too, from moving. This was my wife's 26th move in 28 years! We've only been married 15 years so not all of that is my fault. LOL. She moved each year of college, Bachelors and Masters, and then with work, and we've moved every 2 years of our marriage due to work transfers & promotions. But, I promised this would be the last, and I retired. So, time to clean out the garage and get a lift setup for the FJ40 top. We were in the garage the other day and I said "OK, we've been here 4 years now, so if we haven't needed or used any of this stuff in all this time, we need to either sell it or donate it."
