Cool thanks for the pics... Did you consider 60 series? Do you know what the width difference is for those?

I'm stuck in a rut trying to decide what axles to toss under mine...

I went with a 60 front on mine with wheel spacers b/c I wanted to run the 6 shooter knuckles and not have to deal with the 80 knuckles. I think there's like 5 inches width diferance between 60's and 80's

I would lower it 6"

Also, link separation is a good thing, but those lower mounts on the axle look like rock-finders to me
true but I had to get under the tie rod somehow. Im not to worried about it, no rocks anywhere close to where I go wheeling just mostly sand.

I'm thinking find a way to lower it some. You might have to cut off and re-do some brackets, but I think in the end you'll be alot happier with it.
Im sure I will lower it some but I still want it to be tall enough to go through some really deep mud and water and keep my feet somewhat dry. heh

thanks for the input guys keep it coming

i dont know about the 80 width but the 60 axle is 3 inches wider (they used a longer long side axle with same length short side as a 40) how much stronger are the 80 axles compared to say a D60 or even stock 40 axle? iv never really considered doing 80 axles under a rig...

80 axles have larger stronger Stock Birfs, but are still 30 spline.. So strength is similar once upgraded.. More aftermarket stuff is available for the 40/60/mini axle.. the biggest negative on the 80 stuff is the hysteer options, and i guess the hypinnion 8" can fail while backing up..

I will shoot for the 25" mark. sounds good to me. right now it is a little over 27" close to 27 1/2 really. I planed on coming down about an inch anyway so I guess 2" wouldnt hurt. 25" to the frame is still really tall.

Hi-Jack

Scott, Nice build, thanks for the pics, but I feel you should start your own thread.

Joe and Jason keep up the work.

hehe, my old-old lady taught me to use "I feel" statements. :flipoff2:

Your right pacer, sorry all! I will start a new thread and post some pics there. I will post more pics as work progresses and I am sure I will have a few questions to ask and I am always open for suggestions. Late! :flipoff2:

TRUCKS ALMOST DONE!!!

New additions:

BTF full width kit on the front
BTF stretch kit on the rear
3.4L motor swap w Taco auto tranny and 2 speed STaK
Full roll cage (sold him the cage out of my 72)

Talk about keeping it in the family!!!

All that is left is to finish up the rear track bar and she'll be ready for a shake down run.

Joey created some kind of booty fabulous steering rig that he thinks will work but I'm pretty confident will not. we'll see how that plays out (which means I'll fix it when it breaks)

I'll get Joey to post some pics soon, trucks back in his possesion right now. It's coming together nicely.

Jason

time to take this thread back to its roots. i finally ogt it done. the steering is not terrible, but its not what i wnat it to be, but it should tide me over. i think a pitman arm with a little more drop will make it ok and practical for hard use, but i havent found one yet. i plan on going full hydro soon, but my little budget project was shot to hell so this is what i ended up with.
