NikP,
Just sharing some "improvements" to the console you sent my way. My weimaraner loves to stand on the center console and help me drive. The dog slides around on the lid of the console and often times unlocks my seatbelt for me. I was going to put a larger foam type cushion on the lid as an arm rest but decided to go this way instead:
Used this stuff from Lowe's and it would have been nice to buy just one piece but had to buy a package of three for $16.00 :
Cut a piece out that was roughly the size of the lid 12x7 1/4 I think:
Laid the rubber piece on top of the console and pressed down for a couple of minutes to create an indentation of where the hole for the lock should go. Then used an 18mm socket and hammered a hole in the piece:
Used clear liquid nails to glue it on and put some weight on it for about 1 hour to dry :
The edges are just a bit rough, I used a rasp and some sand paper to try to smooth it out. Functional, dog seems to like it and only took about an hour to do. Also lined the inner walls with some of this stuff, also available from Lowes:
Just cut it down the middle only going through one side, practice fit the stuff, then put some liquid nails on the edge of the console and reapply the rubber, wipe off excess liquid nails and rattling is cut to a minimum..
Nice console, found out it will hold three wine bottles from the local winery when driving around !!!
