FJ40-BJ4X Tranny Knowledge Needed

[TYPE 40 FJ TARDIS]

I doubt this ever happens, but the whole plan has now radically changed. I can get a running B motor for free so I want to know if I can simply put the matching parts in my 79 FJ40 H42 or acquire a different gearbox altogether?

Input shaft and bearing retainer are different on the F engine and B engine in the 40 series. The H engine is the same as F engine.

Also the H42 gearing is different in the H41. Most diesel have or possible all had the H41 four speed. All H55F shared the same gearing as the H41 of the same time persiod. Would hard to find if no impossible to find a B input shaft (which includes first gear) to fit an H42.

Not sure what the input shaft from a 12HT fits but it wouldn't fit a B engine.
