I will get by….I will survive
Prime Day ends today. I bought a battery jump starter pack and some random stuff.
These are normally $99. Do I need them?

Yeah I’m leaning mine against the roof as well.I'm tall enough that I rest the hood against the roof, I have a section of paracord I use to tie the hood open so that a breeze can't make it fall on me.
I bought the Struts and brackets from an RV supplier for a lot less and figured it out on my own. Also have Gas Struts on the rear hatch. Both open on their own once they are released. I mounted the hood struts higher so that they are further out of sight when the hood is open. The hood also opens further than the stock rod for easier access without leaning the hood on the windshield.
My hood spear is made out of high-grade solid aluminum... it won't dent. I'm sure it would dent the windshield frame if the hardtop was off.![]()
With a SBC swap, a split hood, and the short hood prop (and no where to rest it) the gas struts were an easy decision.Interesting I have hood spears make out of different materials. My accident I found out I have one that is non magnetic. In most cases the dents on hoods is caused by the hood flying open while driving because the hood wasn't latched down. Problem really started when hood was stamped out a single piece which made it lighter. About two years after the one piece started a safety was was added.
As for prime days believe my wife bought some stuff. I just prefer opening the hood all the way for the best clearance. Rarely am I not in a garage so blowing shut is not a problem.
I totally agree. I saw this mod when @bikersmurf did it and thought that’s awesome. Then the more I thought of it I really like the hood opened all the way to have full access to the engine compartment. I still think it’s a good idea, just not right for me. Mine rests on the wiper blade arms and hold downs, so it doesn’t get scratched up.I'm tall enough that I rest the hood against the roof, I have a section of paracord I use to tie the hood open so that a breeze can't make it fall on me.
Back before my F motor died, it was the #4 plug that fouled like crazy. There were times that I'd have to knock the carbon off several times in one day.I don’t think those struts let the hood open enough. You gotta open that hood all of the way to really get some work done. Like changing out the #6 plug for one!
