Have my brake lines all cut, flared, and connected. Need to bench bleed my new master cylinder, and then the lines. Matthew is designing/ fabricating a traction bar for me. Glenn from G&M Express will be doing my exhaust and looking like I'll be getting my air shocks at Sun Fire off road through Scott Morris. My brother will be helping me with my steering. I have about 5 weeks left to finish this, school starts tomorrow, so now is a good time for that money tree to start blooming.

Thanks, it wasn't suppose to be so much at once. Wouldn't be as far as I am without the help of my brother and some cool fabricated parts from Matthew. Thanks for your help guys, really appreciate it. It's tough being in college and building this on a schedule and being low budget. Needs to be complete by 10-03-12, going to Canada for some fun hardcore wheeling. Hope to last 3-4 days.
 
It was one of those timing issues. I made the flange as an experiment. His 14B yoke strap bolt holes were stripped. It was a simple swap and he can keep all Toyota driveshafts. The night John figured out his yoke was bad, I had just stopped by, flange in hand, still warm from being faced and trued on the lathe. I think he said his driveshafts are close enough in length that he can use a spare on either front or rear.

I did at first, but as Matthew said when he came over I had figured out the strap bolt holes were stripped and he had the part I would need. Yes I have a toyota flange for my front Dana 60, and yes both front and rear drive shafts are interchangeable, which is nice, only need one spare.
 
I can understand that, i am putting a 14b in mine now too and have considered both options but i am going with the the bigger u-joint, i can get the 1350 weld plug for $20, 1350 u-joint for another $20, u-bolt kit for $5.50 and get my driveshaft guy to make it work for way less than the toy Conversion flange.

My last race the front dshaft cv joint came apart running wide open and cracked my new th400 so i'm not really feeling the love for yota u-joints here lately lol, what sux is that i put toy flanges on my atlas because i was lazy and wanted to reuse my d-shafts.....doh
 
I've heard that the yota joints are stronger? I'll be installing a 5.3 LS motor in my 40 along with an automatic tranny and maybe an atlas sometime in the near future. Also I'll be 4-linking the rear so I'm sure things will change, but first I will wheel the hell out of it, when its able and I have the time. There is a ton of things left to do, but the priorities are exhaust, steering, installing Matthew's traction bar, and some 16" air shocks in no specific order. I will be working on the little things like tightening all the bolts, topping off fluids, cleaning until more finds are available to purchase priority parts.
 
I love a holiday, got some things out of the way today after I finished my school work. Bench bled the master brake cylinder, started to bleed the front brakes and they leaked at the calipers? Will figure that out tomorrow. Also got my bump stops mounted, hooked up the fuel line, and Lincoln locked the front end. Yes it was heated first with a torch and then we put some hot wire to it. I don't have money for a locker right now and where we are going in 4 weeks, I need to be locked front and rear.

Started the steering, well started staring at the front axle. Things are going to be a little tricky, no high steer arms, narrowed dana60 = custom custom = PIA. No money for high steer arms at this point. This may take a while. :bang: on another note, my brakes were bled and they leak, front ones at the calipers, rear at a splitter. I'll be bringing it to an exhaust shop that also does brakes, they can mess with it because brakes are something that needs to be done right! Hopefully this will be early next week.

3 weeks, 6 days until we head to Canada. :steer:
 
My brother and I all but finished the steering, need to bleed the system, tighten all connections and bolt steering wheel on. Hopefully we'll fire her up this weekend too. The key hasn't been turned since Dec. 21st of last year, I think. Time to make the check list of tighten this, tighten that, fill this, fill that, cycle this, cycle that. Some pics of the steering and one of the truss Matthew made. It's late and I'm tire, more to do tomorrow!

Steering is done! :clap: The old SBC awoke on the first turn. :clap: Brakes and Exhaust are getting done later this week :clap: Matthew installed the traction bar he made :clap: All I have to do is check over my list once or twice and get some spare parts together, clean the barn and finish helping my brother build his trailer. 2 weeks 4 days left. :beer:
