Well there are differences in suspension and drivetrain between the FJ55 and the 40 series. Placing 40's and 55's in the same forum is like mixing apples and oranges. I for one like the idea of having a seperate forum. Many Q's I have asked in the past just get ignored due to more folks owning 40 series. They just dont care about the pig... we pig owners should be allowed to wallow together.
springs may change, i.e. centered pin on front, longer on rear, but the concept of springs is the same. drivetrain differences are minimal, and again general concepts are the same. if we go separating them on the amount of differences between a piggy and a 40, well where does it end? we'll have a forum for 40's with 55 springs, 40's with auto's, 40's with 350 chev engines, 40's with 302 windsors, 40's with D60 axles....

and i find topic headings without vehicle type at the top get more responses, as people don't go "i don't know sh!t about a hj45" when all i needed was info on changing a uni joint.

I'll vote for another forum! A Pig Restoration spot would be cool. I'd like to see pig specific runs, parts wanted/for sale section, mods/upgrades, etc. It seems like pigs and their owners are crawling out of the woodwork and a place to meet and swap info/ideas would be ideal. I too, dig the Birfield site but usually just lurk because I am too lazy to email. I am a bit of a pig addict so maybe I may not represent a bunch of other's opinions but I say be a renegade and create the forum! (Those who are not interested, obviously do not have to visit.)
I would like to amend my earlier suggestion of 'Pig Pen' to 'The Iron Pig Pen'...It just has a cooler sound to it .

besides engines (a few differences), the transmission its self (different bellhousing and mounts) the FJ55 and FJ40/45 are different. They are wired differently, use different sheet metal... apples to oranges... they arent the same vehicle... I could use the front doors, hood, fenders, etc.. from an FJ40 on my ole FJ45lv... they are the same series...... A BJ60 and BJ70 have a lot in common too. 1977 GMC 2x4 pickup and GM Camaro are effectively the same......The FJ55 and the FJ40 are not effectively the same vehicle. They shouldnt be bunched into the same catagory. I think we should have a seperate forum for pigs... it is legit and many of us dont see why not.

i dont think that poll asked the Q's correctly or with everyone in mind... i didnt even know there was a poll.
maybe we pig owners (those that own a pig at this point in time) should vote on it. I have owned several different series of cruisers... sorry but I dont see how being with the 40's is going to explain how to fix my wipers... or getting a wiring schematic, or body bushing kits (they are still our there from toyota... dont ask how much).... its a different rig altogether.
Plus who really wants to answer yes to this:

Thats a crappy answer... makes you second think on what the real question is...should be more of a "Yes", "No", or "Maybe". Plus I dont see what the big deal is... why pigs cant have their own forum, are the 40 series affriad we make up most of their group or that we might be taking away or massive knowledge on FJ55's by going to a different forum... I promiss we will still visit... nothing to be scared of... hahahahaha... for years we have been kicked to the side... this is my 5th pig and 2nd DD'r in the last 12 years.
