I think the uhaul is more vintage than the 25.

OK, I'll play...would you guys buy this '82 BJ42 for $3000?
I'm always saying the body is the most important thing. But since I already have two post 78 bodies and frames So how the engine? Five speed? To answer you Dean if it runs good I would say yes. But living in the southwest part of the US and diesel are pretty rare here that may have something to do with my answer. I wonder how much it was cost to import it to the US. Probably easier since it already twenty-five years old and no over seas transport involve.
Had my kidney stone blasted this morning and on pain meds, I was informed by the better half I couldn't buy anything off the net today

It would have cost me around $1500 to $2000 to ship a 40 from your place to mine, and that was a none running rig. This one apparently runs like a top. No smoke or anything, but it does have rust issues. I actually know of a couple that can be had for about the same price, and I can help you once you are off your meds
But do they have H55F transmissions? Power steering?
I would really like a 70 series but I'm afraid of the rust. Not that a BJ4X series from Canada is going to have rust. At least for those I have some body parts plus a useable spare frame. A BJ with a five speed and power steering would be cool. 82 BJ42 would be a 3B? Probably a four speed being it's a 1982. H42 or H1? Thanks for looking into it Dean
I have a '82 BJ42LX. 4-speed with power steering (thank god!). I *think* the 4-speed is a H42, but the splines are different than gas engines, so they're not interchangeable. The 5-speed was an option in '82 and standard equipment in '83/'84, IIRC.
I bought a diesel H55F from a Mudder in Montreal last year. It's sitting in my garage waiting for the swap. The driveshafts have to be shortened/lengthened to accommodate the extra length of the box.
