So when are we going to get the truck dirty ? Your build is looking good.

yea man, I'm game as long as its during a weekend.

few pics of the sliders below. First impressions - wow, these things are heavy duty. Very solid workmanship. Install was not a bid deal, even without jack stands and a lift (I just propped them on a cooler).

The sliders run parallel with the rockers 3/4 inch or so apart except for when the rockers slop down at the front wheel well. I played with the bolts/clamps to see if I could get the front end of the sliders to slope with the rockers, but had no luck. Towards the front wheel well, the sliders run about 1/4 inch from the rockers. This appears too close compared with the rest of the separation along the rockers, but after looking around at photos on MUD I believe its normal. I don't imagine these things will budge anyways, they are solid.

Looks great man. I Wil tell everyone here looking at his truck. It is very nice and has a demanding stance.

anyone help with sourcing the screws that hold the inner fender/apron to the wheel well? I think I found it here, the number 6? Not for certain and I'd hate to order the wrong thing. I'm sure just any ole screw would work, but I'd like to match those already in place.

This points out the lil screws I'm after:

aight, so after a crazy xmas holiday, including a move into a new home, i finally was able to muster up the cash to continue my build.

Ended up convincing the wife on spending the money by using the fact that i' would purchase the less expensive of the various bumpers on the market, hence the Ironman and Smittybilt XRC 8k winch. I wouldn't use the word "cheap," as the bumper appears, feels, and mounts like something serious. The winch, I dunno. Read some good reviews and couldn't swallow the few extra bucks on a Warn. We'll see.

I was able to mount the thing myself, minus the wifey helping me fit the bumper onto the mount. I still lack final fitment, will need an impact wrench to set things solid. I'll also have a friend help me hook up the lights, winch control box, etc. So the pics...

I was able to get the bumper light switch through the rubber attached to the fire wall without burning out my electric using a screw driver and some tape.

So all I lack now is mounting the winch control box, upgrading my battery cables, test the winch, tightening the bumper for finally fit, cranking the t bars level, and connecting the bumper lights....then all I'll need is some mud

Bringing this thread back to life! Had a awesome time wheeling/riding with ya, Charles. I can't wait to see you go as hard in the 100 as you did in the 40 at the invitational. Great looking trucks btw

Okay, so I got a little distracted with a 40. With spring here, and the little ones old enough to camp, well, focus is now back on Greenie. I finally broke down and bit off a big one – a new rear bumper! Ended up going with the HC bumper from BIOR, complete with 2nd carrier and ladder for future mounting options. There are plenty of write ups on the install here on MUD, so I’ll spare everyone the read, but I will add that I was able to do the install with a lil help from the Mrs. and the little ones (I did use a friend’s plasma torch to cut off the cross member).

Went through a few dust seals on the hubs before I got them in, but aside from that the install went A-Okay. Very well constructed, very pleased with the outcome. Can’t wait to get a few scratches.

Also got a steal of a deal on a used set of storage drawers off craigslist (amazing what you can find with the right buzz word). I found these puppies after being listed on CL for 30+ days. They were originally constructed for a LX and barely used. Drawers are manufactured by TuckVault, all wood, and are ridiculously priced new (this version $2,200 +/-).

I have no point of reference other than what I’ve read, but the drawers and marketed to law enforcement and hunters for the most part. They do appear ideal for those that want to store their rifles and such, as they are lined with carpet, have modular dividers, and are secured with a punch code and key override latching system. I’ve been using them for storing camping supplies and recovery stuff. :grinpimp:

Downsides include not having slides, rather two small wheels (casters) on the end to assist with opening and closing…not a big deal, though. I also wish they were a bit taller so that I could fit a few internal storage containers/Tupperware from Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

Next will be maintenance, particularly on the front end. Need to sort out a rattle from the front driver side wheel well, a slight grind at certain angles (CV prolly), and upgrading to heavy coils.....driving a damn boat at the moment. :D

Just saw this thread. Nice build. That last pic of your kid on the gate is priceless!

Did you paint the body under the rear bumper wings gray? Looks really good.

thank you, sir. And yes, a very proud father indeed :D

I did paint the lower rear quarter. Scuffed it with sand paper, then rattle canned it primer grey then flat black.

Looking good , you taken it it to gsmtr ?

may ride up mid week in the 40 and have the wifey bring the kiddos on Friday in the hundy.

Which one you bringing? ;)

Hello,
Major props. Truly a rad looking LC. Now that I have knocked out all maintenance items, it is time to do some modding myself. Truly an inspiration.
Best,
Jack

Griffin,

Looks great! I can't wait to see it at GSMTR, I have yet to see a High Clearance bumper, so this will be my "Do I want to buy it or not" inspection.

I wish I had started a build thread when I joined, I almost feel that it's too late to start one on mine. I have been thinking about it.

See ya soon.

To the OP, did you have to use wheel spacers for those tundra wheels? I like how they look on your LC. I've been watching a couple of sets on CL.
