???

I did see that they are setting up some shelters for the evacuees.

We have some room available if anyone needs a place to crash.

Scary pics indeed.

I just got home, I was up in Boulder all day and found out about the fire while I was up there. You could see the smoke from Boulder.

Stay safe and don't hesitate to call anytime if you need anything. At some point I would like to hear more about the fire gel you had in your text message.

I also heard from Sam, they are ok for now.

Since the primary Pikes Peak is down (146.970) it looks like the CMRG repeater is being used 147.345, though there is little traffic. I suspect I they have a x-band repeat set up as I heard them on the 70cm PP repeater and the guy said ARES net control on 345 repeater.

Update: I hear them on 448.450 but not on the 147.345

I'm out, staying with a friend in town. Will try to get back up there early tomorrow. Fire gel didn't work - water pressure tanked.

Thanks guys ... Not much to do. Back at the house this morning - all the important stuff is out or loaded. The rest is insured. Been taking down a few low branches and such. Water is off, but the wind is still in my favor for the moment.

Just took a look around ... there's fire in the section 16 park just north of Burgess. About a mile from my place. On the ground for now, not I'm the trees.

t least two chinooks & two blackhawks doing drops. Sure wish they'd get the 130's in the air!

Glad to hear that you're still OK for now Eric, hope the winds stay in your favor.

We were headed north on Marksheffel a moment ago and those copters looks so tiny when compared to the backdrop of that wall of smoke.

The high ground there on Marksheffel, right before it intersects with Woodman, was a good vantage point too see the true scope of the fire. I was amazed at how big it actullaly is.

Hope everyone in that area stays safe!

Anybody know how hard it is to find a 440V generator? Just tLked to the manager of the water district about why the water is out. Turns out they don't have a backup generator. So water is out until power comes back. Would be kinda nice to have some water about now - my neighborhood actually has hydrants, and the trucks could fill up down the street instead of hauling in tankers.
