I was reading about DV on Expedition Portal and found the www.adventureduo.com write up on Death Valley '09. Looks really interesting with a lot of expedition driving there that i wasn't aware of...

I was talking to someone today that had travelled to alot of these places across the border, and he had mentioned a place called Monument Valley. He said it has some of the most spetacular scenery there, and alot of the westerns were shot there.

Monument Valley, Utah/Arizona

Yep- the boss and I were the only ones there last may. The Subaru's outside temperature thingie hit 42 degrees C! Hiked up the end or Golden Canyon and went thru like 5 water bottles. Nice to have the sunshower bag always warm and the campsite bathrooms were first rate. Most comfortable toilet seats in the US park system IMHO.

I can meet up for coffee this week.

sorry guys, I've been doing 11-12hrs 6 day weeks and over the holiday I get almost no time off. How about we sit down in January and talk about it. Unless someone (especially someone who has been in that area) already has a plan and wants to take charge of this trip, I would be happy with that option.

Well- we know when the Olympics are so why don't we get together once Festivus is over to hash it out. If I dont hear from you guys by new years I'll call. Oh- and I know where you live- Lance! (lol!) Happy holidays!

Graham, I moved:flipoff2:LoL! I'm available for coffee next week too. We can meet up for coffee at Brentwood, even if nobody else is available. Have a good Christmas.

Very slippery, Lance! Mat- Sorry to offend your very delicate sensibilities!:flipoff2: Dude- I'm only celebrating Kwanza this year. I pick a theme every year to keep things interesting and to try to avoid my own heritage. Ever hear of 'traditional Scottish holiday fare?' Next year I may consider going kosher. Sorry to let every one know that we broke the oplatek in 2003 so all you Polish dudes are out of luck at my place- but there is always an empty seat (as there should be!)

So do we have any takers for trip leader for this trip? or am I being volun-told? If someone who is going is familiar with that area it would make the planning easier. I'm trying to find maps for my Garmin (well Robert is) so with luck we'll have some GPS support. When it comes to distance and travel, Death Valley and Moab are about 100kms difference, give or take 2000kms from Coquitlam to destination. 2 days trip there and another 2 back. That would give me 7 days there to play max.
Now I know that camping down there is a bit different then camping here, so those that have experience (Drew) care to pitch in as to some extra things we should bring or pay attention to?

Lance and I plan to get together on Friday for a beer n' BS session. Mat? I'll call you.
