The black ones are what I use to use, the red ones might be a new style to keep from leaking
@Spike Strip helped me out. I have two Trail Tamer rebuild sets but I didn't get these inside the kits.
These are Trail Gear. I'm not sure where I got them, I suspect residue from Radd Cruisers being in Duncan?
Anyhow, I put the 2 new Trail Gear seals in today as the
first set was okay but with brand new axles going in just wanted to be sure.

I bought one. Expensive and worth every penny. Shackles, u joints, tie rods, driveshaft and I got the cheap lockable fitting.
Dad has the Lincoln variety up at the ranch, it moves a lot of grease in year, not sure I use enough to warrant the cost at home though.
I have a cheap version of this 20 years ago... still works fine.

Which reminds me I should probably pump some extra into my knuckles. If I did it as a day job I'd consider cordless... but since my 40 has onboard air, Ambo has a small Makita air compressor, shop has a small industrial compressor, and a spare Makita 2400 portable compressor. I never have a problem finding a compressor... even in the middle of nowhere.

A few cranks here and there, no big deal. 4 tubes of grease in 4 cruiser knuckles? I was pretty happy to have a machine doing the pumping, but that's not something that happens all that often.

Picked up a Stihl MS390 for a song at a neighbour’s garage sale. It’s in very good shape. He said he only used it about six times and it looks like it. 4.3 hp and about 13 lbs. It’s rated as a mid range saw and seems to be well regarded. It looks almost new, but the gas is stale, the air filter looks clogged, and it probably needs a carb kit. It turns over when the cord is pulled. It has a decompression mechanism to make it easier to start.
Aside from grime, this is about the only sign of wear. The chain seems to stretched unevenly. It seems loose and tight both at the same time. I won’t know for sure until I clean it up and lube it. It’s not like a new chain costs much. It looks like it hasn’t been cleaned much. I hate to see tools so grimy.

It occurs to me that this saw hasn’t been used in a long while, and the chain may be getting tighter if it’s not flexing enough. If a section is trying to stay straight as it goes around the clutch sprocket the rest of the chain will get tight. This makes more sense than it being stretched weird… which was my first thought.
If it is sticking I’ll toss it in my pail of used (but clean) P/S FLUID and let it soak for a while and see if that helps.

Love My Shindaiwa 488. 10.1 pound professional saw that puts out 3.5 hp.
The Stihl Ms 390 is a 13 pound medium duty saw that is pushing 4.3 hp. a Bit heavier.
So far I've found that the needle bearing race in the middle of the clutch has melted.
