Used Fastenal to have some parts shipped from Wisconsin to northern Michigan, around the lake. 250# in a box 2'x2'x4' cost $120 and arrived in seven days. I'd sure use them again.

Ed- that is one heavy 2’x2’x4’ box:eek:. Indygbd shipped me a stack of doors and a windshield strapped to a pallet via Fastners/Fastenal. It’s a pretty amazing service really, I wouldn’t be surprised if that deal changes one day.

Roger if you want insurance on your shipment it has to be crated. Otherwise you can take your chances on an unprotected pallet. I have used them several times with great success. Although their tracking system leaves an awful lot to be desired. There are also some states they cannot ship into California and Colorado are two of them. I'm not certain if they will ship out of those states though.

Two sets of 454 marine exhaust manifolds and exhaust risers.

Did they deliver to the address or was it to the nearest dock? I have used yellow/roadway and they will not deliver to even a business address it there is not a truck going in that direction so it will set on their dock until such time there is one. They have screwed me over a couple of times and I have since passed up making a sale if I have to use them. I don't usually ship big stuff but I am going to check Fastenal out encase I ever do again.

My understanding is that they don't offer this service in California, the Los Angeles area. Am I wrong?

They ship from store to store. I've used them, it's a good deal if you have some bulky stuff to ship. Basically you are buying pallet space on one of their trucks when they have room. I shipped some bulky stuff recently and it cost $150 to go from Texas to Georgia with a 48x40 pallet.

a mud member used them to ship a motor from here (Nevada) to Kentucky. It's my understanding the put the fork lift fork through the oil pan and also ended up dropping the whole pallet off the forklift. It was a big pain and the people the Mud member worked with to get the situation resolved was extremely rude.

I've used Forward Air a number of times with good success and decent rates, for transmissions'transfer cases.
