Run Details:

When/Where: Meet at the Sooke A&W Sunday November 23, 2014, 7:45am. We will be LEAVING the A&W at 8:00am. Leaving early maximizes our daylight time. If you don't know where the A&W is, Google it.

Plan: We'll head West on Hwy 14 past Muir Creek, and spend the day in the hills. There should be lots of challenging driving.

Food: We'll have a BBQ with hotdogs and/or hamburgers around midday (Gsb15 and I are sorting out the details). Please bring your own snacks/drinks.

Preparation: As usual, please be prepared by coming with a well maintained vehicle, full tank of fuel, a spare tire, recovery equipment, tools, emergency gear, warm clothing, extra clothing, appropriate footwear, etc. I'll bring a little chainsaw, but if anyone else wants to bring one too, feel free. Bring a pair of gloves incase we have to clear some trees.

Please confirm if you are coming, so we know how much food to buy.

Lets try to get a club wheeling run happening. Exact run location is still to be determined, but we will try to organize something closest to the majority of those who want to participate.

Just throwing some dates out there where I'm available, and wondering if they'd work for anyone else: I have next weekend available 25th/26th (25th is better). I also have November 15th/16th or Nov 23rd.

All right, lets make it in November then. Anyone else? Would be nice to get a bunch of cruisers out for this one. If you have any favorite routes that you think would be appropriate, let me know.

OK lads, how does Nov 15th sound? I'm going to start looking into some route options. One thing I was thinking would be cool would be to get to one of those old bomber wrecks that is in the trail links I posted a while back. I'll look into it further and see which would offer the more challenging route and some fun side trails. Course, days are getting short so we'll have limited time.

Anyone else interested? Would be nice to have more than a couple cruisers for once.

Would you still be up for the 23rd? I've got friends in town on the 15th, although I'll still go on the 15th if it's better for others. Then maybe have a meet before to make a plan?

Sure, 23rd works still. Lets do that then. I wasn't going to organize a meet Nov and Dec, as we have not had much turnout and the holidays etc. are coming. But we could still do the Nov one to give us a chance to plan this run, sounds like a good excuse.

Was going to head out with my kids today and look for some trails and see whats open. Kids had too much 'Halloween Hangover' though. Maybe tomorrow when they're better slept, haha.

went for a bit of a drive on the weekend to test out my cummins truck. drove in from shawnigan lake then turned onto the start of butler main, then took the bypass down to jordan main and out that way. would be an alright run for us, although no real 4wheeling, except the bypass which is pretty easy(walk in the park in a cruiser). could do some extra exploring off of that though,. boulder lake is colse by and reasonable to get to.

Cool.

Good to see the big girl back in action. Well done.

Is it manual? Did you ever need to touch the throttle pedal? lol.

Truck looks sweet Graham. Can't wait to see that thing. Thanks for checking out some options for our cruiser run. I never did get a chance to get out. Halloween, time change, young kids, and hours in the truck don't mix well.

Went for a run this morning with the kids. Found a back way past gates to get onto the power line west of Muir Main. Then I ran out of time, but I'm pretty confident it is an easy connection to Muir Main from where I was. Means if we are in that area and the Muir Main gate is closed I know a way out (or in). Not really familiar enough with the area around Muir to know if this is that helpful or not...wish I had more time to keep going.

Looks like a good day, Nick. I got out for a run today in wild Orlando - Bass Pro Shop! Saw a stuffed bear!! And some
redneck walking around with an 18" alligator wrapped in electrical tape that people could touch! ooooh!
I can't wait to get home!
