So Kitty and I decided to go camping this past weekend to check out the fall leaves up near Dahlonega, GA. I've been going up to that area to camp most of my adult life and consider it one of the most scenic in Georgia.
The weather patterns were favorable considering that a whole lotta rain just missed us. We had a breezy ride on Saturday going up Old Bucktown Rd about 18 miles west of Dahlonega. Not really any tough wheeling , but this is the roughest in these parts with some off camber stuff that will cross up your suspension. Lockers aren't really needed, if you pick your line right.
Some pics from Saturday...
The trail behind Bertha is the back road into Amicalola State Park from Nimblewill Gap. It's a bouncy little jaunt with a couple of water holes that drops you off at the top of the mtn in the SP. No entry fee needed. We saw an H2 full of Buckhead Betties head back out as we were coming in and thought, I wonder if they turn back at the first water hole or the first tree branch that touches their roof?
Sunday AM we took our time breaking camp and then took beautiful ride up Winding Stair Gap Road up to Hightower Gap.
Along the way we took a side trail to the top of Hawk Mtn.
And played on the few rock ledges at the peak.
Took Hightower Gap Rd back towards Cooper Creek Gap Rd and out to Camp Frank Merrill (the Army Ranger base).
Had a big juicy burger and a beer in Dahlonega and called it a day. Hope y'all enjoy the pics.

It just dawned on me...your wife drives "separate" everywhere you go! Classic; Ric, you are my hero.
