How much trouble would I run into swapping an F2 engine from the 80's into a 1970 with an original 3 speed on the floor transmission? Thanks

I think the engine will easily fit/bolt up - all the other stuff - computers, fuel injection.... yea well that's where you will find the can of worms IMHO.

no computers or fuel injection

the block is the same size and will bolt to the existing frame mounts and existing bellhousing, use all your existing clutch components with flywheel
things that will need addressed, wiring for alt, throttle linkage, fan shroud, wiring coil/ignitor assembly, there may be a few other minor things, exhaust

1970 would have had a 3 on the column shift, floor shift started 1972?

Have had F135 and F145 with 3sp column and floor shif conversion, as well as 2F with H55 and split TC.

The only things I ever had to “adapt” was mounts for the split TC, and a fan shroud I had to notch the holes on a little to get fan in center of shroud hole.

An FJ40 is about as close to lego blocks as a car can be. Jump right in, I doubt you hit to many big hurdles.

Edit: on reflection, the trans tunnel cover to clear the H55 was a bit if work.

Thanks for the advise.

The 80's block should easily bolt on. And beyond that you can keep it close to original or wander off and add the newer amenities like an electronic distributor setup, you also gain the option of having the factory power steering pump bracket that bolts onto the block you can even add the fj60 a/c bracket.

Thanks, I might like the power steering idea.
