I dunno Man... the line from the pump to the block would have to meet or beat the original for me to have peace of mind.... iffn it were to crack or break because of vibration or other causes? a seizure will occur........ post your ideas on the integrity of the supply line........

That is an EXCELLENT point. I have seen a number of supposedly hi pressure replacement lines, including the ss braided lines that the big LC vendors carry, FAIL on the F engine in bypass mode. Several of them don't even have the capacity for straight-on lubrication either. I sure wouldn't trust an F135 canister to hold in a straight on lubrication setup either.

Just a few more thoughts to throw into the mix.;)

The pic of course shows the early cannister filter, I have the spin on filter on the intake...

The internal oil lines on my F145 are all copper tubing which will withstand a LOT of pressure. Just what kind of pressure can be developed by the F145 engine? As long as any mods used copper or steel tubing and good connections I don't see where there would be an issue unless it was clearance?

Mark A. if you remember this thread: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=138040&highlight=oil+filter+lines

you recall I have some PO fabbed lines that I need to replace! Do you carry a good set of replacement lines or can you recommend a good set?

Thoughts on the supply line....
inside the engine: stainless or copper with AN fittings.
Outside the engine: braided stainless hose with full flow fittings

what size lines do you guys think would be adequate -8 AN or -10 AN?
What filter? Will a PH8A be large enough for full flow? or is there something better?

Does anyone know the difference between a pre 76 oil pump and a post 76 oil pump? Is one better than the other?
thanks

A PH8A is what I run now. It's the exact same filter as on my 1972 Ford V8 360 so I don't think flow will be an issue. I think the pumps changed in late 74. The new pumps put out more volume and as stated above can be swapped into the earlier F145 engines.

9/73 introduced the internal regulator but retained the 1F look~ the new design started after 9/76.... same psi...

Off to find a oil pump....just to make sure I have this correct the 9/73-76 uses the same strainer, and has the 1F look but has an internal regulator?

Was it common to bypass the oil filter assembly on the early F and run it straight back into the blocK?? I'm working on one right now that doesn't have an oil filter at all.
