I have had a really busy summer and havent been able to work on the trailer at all. However, I did sneak in one last adventure. This time the :princess: came with. (her first time sleeping in the trailer) She loved it! comfy bed and she liked that we were able to bring so much on an extreme off road adventure. We Joined RedRock Cruiser Club of southern Utah to explore a couple of abandoned mines deep in Grand canyon parashant national monument AKA the Arizona strip. Looking forward to diving into the project once again as the weather cools off.

Nice! Glad the government shutdown did not shut you guys down!

I am planning to build an expedition trailer made from 1 or more FJ40 tub(s). I have seen a couple of these. I know Kurt williams has one. (pictured) Just curious if anyone else has or knows of one and could post some pics so I could get some ideas. Thanks.

I believe Kurt's is for sale right now!

I made some design for a Fj 45 tub trailer build.

Search the trailer build for my thread and have a look at the design. Hope that helps.

These drawing are great. Can anyone do this or did it require lots of time to learn? I need to make something like this for the guys at Aqualu. I'm having them build a topper shell for my FJ45. I need to draw up what it is I want them to build. Any ideas?
thanks

Simple. What do you want to draw ?

VI the trailer has come such a long way! it looks amazing really. that has truly been a labor of love. been looking into the expedition style of things lately and i think it fits me the best. always been about exploring and adventuring haha. would love to check out the rigs sometime and drool a bit. again both the 40 and the trailer look great man, keep up the great work.

Just completed a new trailer using a new steel FJ43 tub. Spent a lot of time and money to finish this first one. We rebuilt it 2 or 3 times to get it to this point.

I like the FJ43 tub with the added storage box because I feel it combines good aesthetics with real utility. The bed is 5 feet long inside. Not too big not too small. I only pulled it a bit in traffic but pulled perfectly and stopped well empty. The military trailers are cool but weigh too much for the FJs. This all welded trailer should weight about 800 pounds and will have a payload higher than you would ever use.

My resourceful Colombian metal workers hand made the tailgate and the storage box. Also made the black rear valance with real FJ40 tail lamps.

The trailer base itself will be made in Florida with new Florida title. All parts are new. We make the top portion in Colombia and paint match it in PPG paint to the Toyota paint code.

Well done. Sweet. What axles did you use and does it have brakes ?

Very nice! I like it!

Took the trailer out over Easter weekend with my boys to get the creative juices flowing again. Now that I am moved into the new place and have a garage, I can dive into the project again.

Made some progress on the kitchen:

Dude that is awesome! Very impressive and well thought out. My expectations for the 4 door 40 went way up now ; p

WOW volcanic that is a awesome trailer.

AS for the FJ43 & trailer... Man love the FJ43's why didn't they bring those to the states?

I took my boys out camping over the weekend and got to field test the kitchen. Forgot to snap pictures until I was breaking camp, but I must say that even despite not being complete, that slide out kitchen was a joy to use. Loved the counter top space and I am so thrilled to forge ahead and finish the build.

I got a battery and had a 10' custom propane extension hose made that will connect my tank to the propane distribution tree at the end of the kitchen. I Ordered the hot water heater/shower, water pump, and a special folding faucet for the sink. All I have to do is plumb and wire it and my kitchen will be operational.
