Exhaust on a 42

I posted over in the diesel section but not getting much feedback. Im looking to fix the exhaust on my new 42. The PO put a resonator on it and no muffler and has it dumping right behind the passenger door. Can i just have a muffler shop and a muffler? Does it matter the size? Just want it routed out the back end.

i will take pics of my 42 for you , it is routed different than factory with a cheap generic muffler , it is above the skidplate for better clearence and exit behind the tire on driver side

Brett I would have the inlet/outlet of muffler match the diameter on the existing pipe with the muffler mounted in the stock location exiting on the passenger side if possible. That should resolve your sound issues. BTW you have neglected to post a pic of the engine bay thus far.

po did the exhaust , above the cross member and skidplate for better ground clearence
pics are not great, it was dark outside

it look close on the pictures but the exhaust do not hit the frame or anything
i know it got a leak

I like that. I may do it like this
