Exhaust issue at manifold? What goes here…

I’ve had a small exhaust leak at my manifold for a while, nothing major. However, today, I was driving, heard a pop and now it sounds like I’m straight piped to cherry bombs! Haha.

I popped the hood and noticed the exhaust is coming from this “hole”. Looks like there’s supposed to be a hose or plug or something. Anybody know what’s supposed to be there?

May I suggest, putting your vehicle in your signature line, that way people know what year and model you are asking questions about.

For information, what is the year and model? Suspecting this isn't a 1FZ petrol engine.

check out the 3rd image in this thread. looks like someone deleted the EGR on your 3FE and the exhaust manifold plug had other plans.

I decided to do a desmog on my 1991 3FE, but I didn't like the available options for an EGR delete. I wanted to keep the EGR delete as clean, factory-looking, and low profile as possible. Most people use an EGR block off plate or BB's in the vacuum lines for the manifold side of the valve and a two-piece brass option for the exhaust side. I wanted the whole mess out of there and didn't like how DIY the brass option looked. I did some looking around and finally came across this option. I figured I would share part numbers as I couldn't find these anywhere else when I was doing my research...

It looks like the threads are gone...will need to tap some new ones for another plug, or get someone to just weld it closed with a plug/plate. Any decent exhaust shop that does any kind of repairs or custom work should be able to hook you up.
