Annual So. Cal Cruisers Truck Haven Hills trip. Great weather, fun trails, great people!
Sully did awesome, although an upper shackle bushing was destroyed.
Thanks to @Otis and @landcrusher909 for the photos.

Club run to Rohwer Flats yesterday, 13 rigs in total. Great weather, although it was a little windy and cool up on top where we stopped to eat lunch.

Unfortunately, Sully was suffering from carb woes and kept flooding on the uphills. Additionally, the transfer case has seen it last outing. I’ve nursed it along this far and it’s now time to ditch it in favor of a 4 speed trans and split case from an FJ60 I have in the garage.

Going to be making a trip up to Valley Hybrids to have Georg rebuild the t-case and put in a 4-1 gear set.

The flooding carb is hopefully just a float setting adjustment.

Attended the Cruiser Summit in Oceanside today. The weather report of rain kept some people at home. Their loss it was a good time, Pat the owner of Summit Steel had a wood fired pizza guy on hand making great pizzas to feed the masses.

Pat brought out the ramp, several vehicles took the opportunity to flex their vehicles. I have never seen how much flex Sully actually has and I was really impressed, Sully was able to get up the ramp and kept all the wheels on the ground.

The time has come to replace the tired 1F, clunky 3 speed and noisy ass t-case in Sully. I found an FJ60 4 speed/t-case combo. I sent the Tran’s and t-case to Georg at valley hybrids, he checked the 4 speed, then rebuilt the t-case and installed a 4 to 1 gear set.

For those of you that follow Ben Drapers YouTube channel “project wrong way”, he ditched his 2F with Holley sniper fuel injection in favor of a 4 cylinder turbo diesel out of a VW beetle. He reached out to Rob aka landcrusher909, and Rob called me knowing I was looking for a new heart for Sully and the deal was done. Ben gave me everything from the air cleaner to the tail pipe.

So, last weekend I made the trek to Manteca for the Valley Hybrids swap meet, the next day Rob and I headed out early to Ben’s place in Oroville.

Now to pick a weekend and do the ol’ out with the old and in with new!
