Ever seen one with this twist adjuster on the back? Trying to identify the year, it’s an earlier one, ie pre 73, but unsure when. Any idea what that adjuster does? Perhaps adjust the vacuum?

Also, the 1/8" copper tubing on the advancer identifies it as a very early F engine distributor. The older Land Cruisers used copper tubing from the advance port on the carburetor to the distributor. I discovered that the threads on the unusual-type compression fitting are M8X1.25, so I swap in a hex head plug drilled for 5/32" brass tube - the standard vacuum hose fits like a glove. And with the fitting removed, you can adjust the length of the internal spring to customize the vacuum advance curve. You can also swap out the spring. BTW, those stock compression fittings are hard to find these days.
 
I have that style on my ‘67 F motor FWIW. Agreed, octane selector.
