Just ran into a new issue on my new-to-me FJ40. The PO fitted after market aluminum wheels. The hup centers are too small to fit over the front hub, so it appears that he had the front wheels turned on a lathe to enlarge the center opening to fit over the Warn lockers. However, he did not enlarge the opening on the rear wheels or the spare--presumably because he wanted the macho hub caps to still fit. None of that's a problem, unless you hope to be able to use the spare on the front--it won't fit over the front hubs. That would be a somewhat disappointing discovery 50 miles into the back country!

Have any of you encountered this issue? Any ideas where one takes wheels to be turned on a lathe?

Big lathe at a machine shop or a mill. Make a template from a correct fitting wheel and bolt it to the wheel you want to modify. Scribe a circle and grind to the line, close enough.

Do the rear rims sit flush against the rear axle flange? I think the rear rims need to be opened up also so they fit properly on the flange. Folks usually buy rims with the proper approx 4" size center hole.

3 puppies is on to it. Mine didn’t fit either I removed the locking tabs and sanded the Warn Hub body cleaned up the wheel hub and they just fit they usually fit I had three different sets of aluminum wheels on mine. 1978. Center caps won’t fit thought if they come through from the back of the wheel
