thanks scrapdaddy,
i spoke briefly with Georg but he was in "Organization mode" and i really didn't want to bother him too much. i spoke with him about doing the fitment of the engine trans and tcase and id do the rest. he said if i gave him the rig with the drive-line pulled he could get it done in 2 days but would like the rig for a week which to me is totally reasonable. i would then tow it home and figure out the rest of the specifics ( pluming shifters etc.)

ideally i'd like to hassle him as little as possible until i'm ready. he seems like the oracle of Delphi with a long line of knowledge seekers constantly banging on his door. i dont want to be one of "those guys" if you know what i mean. id like to do as much of my homeword as possible ahead of time so i know what I'm talking about and have a semi established plan before i bother him with it.

regarding the transmission a friend of mine has used someone called mad dog transmissions on ebay (same transmission in a 69 camero )he said the owner was really helpfull and spent an hour on two separate occasions answering questions and explaining things. a year later using that tranny as a daily drive on a 383 and he has no complaints no leaks no shifting problems he was still very happy.

i'm always very weary of people on ebay but i got the recommendation from someone i know and ( sort of ) trust . :)

i'm still kinda lost on how to source a Tcase. i'm sure if i can rebuild a motor i can rebuild a Tcase.(or am i kidding myself)

For those of you contemplating a SBC swap with a Toyota 4spd, there's an easy solution to the shifter/heater interference problem. Slap a FJ60 cover plate and shifter stick on top of your transmission. It bolts right on and moves the stick back about 3.5" to almost the original position. That said, if/when I ever have to replace my carbureted 350, it'll be with a injected SBC/700R4 of 460LE. Simpler, more modern setup than my 4spd and Ranger overdrive.

@jerseypiggy Due to funding issues my project has slowed down quite a bit. i now have all the parts to rebuild the 700r4. this last week i was working on cleaning up my serpentine drive kit that i had acquired from multiple junk donors.

I want to keep it running for the time being so i can enjoy it while i finish the various odds and ends.
