So got an 85 with good frame, body, etc, but engine burning oil something fierce. Found a good deal on a recently rebuilt 1990 engine in great running order. Anyone from western Canada will know the rebuilders: Hilltop Cruisers. Anyways from the research I have done I will need to use the 85 ecu then switch out all the sensors and injectors to what the 85 used, correct? Would it be easier to just use the whole 85 intake manifold system instead of just the injectors? Finally, is there any difference in the actual engines between the manual and the auto and anything that would need to be changed? Thanks in advance for any and all welcome information.

The manual and auto engines are the same.

You might not need to swap out as many sensors as you think.

As far as intake. Use your lower intake and injectors, but use the upper plenum and throttle body. This will allow you to loose the Air Flow Valve underneath the throttle body. The newer design is more efficient and a direct swap

I should mention if you use the '90 throttle body you need to move your TPS over. You also need to remove the pawl from your throttle body and exchange it onto the '90.
