I have a spare solid axle mr butler!
Jenn will KILL YOU tho.. I'm guessing the conversation at home is interesting..

Eric.. "Honey, you remember when I told you I needed to do some service on your truck? Well Uhhh.. "

Go grab one at the auction that has been rolled or something.

Hope you put a bed in that office in the shop.. You might need it!

SOOO sorry to hear bout this.. THAT SUCKS..

On a serious note Eric, if your ring and pinion were damaged by the spiders, I have my 4.10s I will give you (unless yours is 4.30). And I'd be more than happy to help if you're doing this yourself. Also have some extra boots if we need to rebuild front axle shafts. This is only a last resort to the SAC (solid axle conversion-since you don't have one to swap) :hillbilly:

sorry Erik-

I did a bunch of clist searches, came up zero.

There is a bunch on ebay with 90-120k for about 1,800

I agree best to find a rollover or damaged one. I have a contact that is at the auction, I will talk to him this week if he can watch for one.

On another note, I saw the DROF on the road still. If you need to use my shop or tools to get in roadworthy, you are welcome to.

Kelly

Thanks to all for the help and advice (useful or not) :D

We've been away on vacation last week - don't worry, we took the truck!!

Have been driving the 'runner some though. Runs great! It's tempting to keep driving it untill it quits, but with my luck, it would leave my 39 week pregnant wife and daughters stranded in the boonies on a 95 degree day!

I plan to get a japanese import engine from Engine World in CA. They advertise less than 50k miles and have a 6 month warranty all for the low price of 1200 + 300 shipping.

We'll probably all squeeze into the 4runner for another month or so, then fork out the cash for a good used, ahem, (insert long pause) minivan. I can't believe life has come to this. Just kidding, I know many of you have been making suggestions over the last few months. So I guess I'm forced to give in now.

Soooo, what the hell caused the thrust bearings to fail?? Actually, the rear side failed allowing to front to fall out. Is there any way that a problem with the auto tranny could push forward on the crank?? I would really like to know the cause of the problem before I put it all back together.

As for the spider gears, I would like to find a front diff, axle shaft, and spindle assembly from a Taco with lockout hubs. If y'all hear of any let me know.

TRADE IT IN WHILE IT"S RUNNING.. Get a sienna.. I know of at least 3 people that have them and LOVE them..
It runs, it looks good, unload it and call it good. I once towed my Accord to Carmax to sell it.. It would run great for about 10 min then quit. I was tired of fixing it after it had clocked 330000 miles.

Sure we could find room for you to stake out and call home....

gotta warn ya that the rent (to do list) is long.

I was serious about helping on the Diesel swap, so give me some warning, and we can try to work something out.

k

Mr butler, i'm guessing the swap is gonna need another piece vacated? iffin this needs to happen sooner than later holler. I can donate a day whenever to get that engine bay vacated.

Thanks for the offers. I plan to get started sometime this fall/winter. Will let you know.

Well, I found an engine with 90K from a 99 4runner in Denver, CO. Had a friend of mine pick it up for me and is holding onto it untill I can meet him in a week or so. Will probably swap engines and keep driving it for another month or so before it goes up for sale.
Jen is still driving it and you would never know there is a problem.

Does any part of you want to crack open this new engine and take a lookey?

Does any part of you want to crack open this new engine and take a lookey?
Yes & no. What if I look and don't like what I see?? I might check compression before I put it in. It's a pretty easy change out, so I'll probably just do it and see how it runs.

I concur. The less you know the better.

I was in a friends 2004 4runner yesterday, and chose not to tell her. I did not konw if they had same engine. Sometimes the less you know the better.
