Ash is done using my engine hoist but I have no place to store it in my current situation. Would anyone like to use/store for a pending project in the near future?

Maybe we should have a fund raiser to pour a concrete slab! Then I will have a place near my house to work on ol' jenny! I am assuming that the barn floor is dirt.
Yes, I have a barn at the new place. One side facing the two corrals is enclosed with shelving and the like--more like a big storage room. That's where the engines/trannies/xfer cases and all of my other cruiser s*** will go.
The front of the barn is a bonafide open style barn. The landlord has given me permission to "work on it"

Ash, can you deliver it to Beno when it's convenient? I have no interim storage provisions right now and no easy way to transport it
If you would get a job and then cut down some trees, I'm sure you could have a barn too. It's the idiots like me who have to live on a 65 X 110 lot in crappy tract housing that have no hope of ever getting a 'shop'.

Moving does suck, no matter how much stuff you have.
My problem at the house is that I have the space all around the house but none of it is paved or asphalted. So, moving around a cherry picker is not possible
But it was nice to use the cherry picker to lift the generator up in the air to do some PM work!

Paving isn't good enough. You want concrete. If you have a heavy enough engine on the hoist in the hot summer sun it will sink into asphalt. It takes a LOT to get it unstuck.

True that. I learned that in IL as most people in my hood had asphalt driveways. The gubmint taxed you less if you had an asphalt driveway vs concrete!
Interesting.... I wonder if you put asphalt on top of concrete if it would make a difference, or vice versa. I mean, I may have an asphalt driveway, I just happen to store a large slab of concrete on top of it...
Heavy taxiways and runways are constructed by laying down asphalt and then reinforced concrete on top of that. Just something to keep in mind, in case anyone needs to support 80,000 lbs single wheel weight.

Only cheap asphalt sucks. The polymer modified stuff can stay hard until way hot, depending on how much polymer is in it. The problem is you have to catch a producer in the middle of a highway job, then someone with a machine who can do it. Usually driveway pavers can't do polymer modified hot mix. Concrete is good because you can pour it some at a time - sometimes you can even find a concrete crew around that will bring the rest of a full truck and pour it for cash. Ask and follow concrete trucks around...
