Has anyone ordered a mini Bluetooth ELM 327 adapter recently that works with the ODBII cruisers?

My 1997 LX450 has pins 2 (data) 4 (chassis ground) 5 (data ground) and 16 (+12V DC) which I interpret to mean that it is SAE J1850-VPW.

I just received an eBay mini ELM that works great in my wife's RX but won't communicate with the LX at all despite it and the auction being clearly labeled "Supports ALL ODB II protocols".

So if you have one that works and know of a supplier still selling the exact one you've got please let me know!

Thanks

EDIT: 7/7/2015 received one from eBay auction 290812437816 and it works fine in the 80 and with Torque on my Android.

Yeah I have the same problem with the ELM327 I got off of eBay. Works on every vehicle I've tried it on except the 80. I haven't tried another 80 but I did try other model Toyotas.

Thanks for the links to the old threads, Retro. Reading those a week or so ago is why I ordered one.

If anyone has recently ordered a mini Bluetooth OBDII that works please post a link to the vendor/auction etc.

Thanks

Well you didn't mention EXACTLY what you ordered, and within those "OLD" threads you can see what people have purchased and works. Sorry.

Sorry to waste your time, Retro.

If there is a better way to say, "So if you have one that works and know of a supplier still selling the exact one you've got please let me know!", I am always open to correction.

I think this 100*+ whether is getting to me. All good.

Yup. OBD-II FZJ80's and LX470's use J1850-VPW. The two grounds (chassis and data) are connected together, so one should suffice.

Sorry, but can't help with which eBay products work.

I have had good luck with this one with all of my vehicles, 1997 LX450 included. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005NLQAHS?tag=ihco-20

It is a little larger than the mini ELM. I loosened the OBDII port, made a 3/8 inch spacer and reinstalled OBDII port rotated 90 degree so that the adapter points down across the fuses so that I don't knock it with my knee getting in and out. Fuse area cover can still be used.

The one I posted works with Android using Bluetooth and the Torque App.

The one Ridgerunner78 posted uses WiFi and works for Apple IOS products using DashCommand which is $10 app. My buddy has iPhone and could not get Torque working properly with this one.

Any idea if that one will work with the Torque App

The instructions mentions using the Torque app for Android phones. I have an iPhone and am using the DashCommand app. The one I linked is the wi-fi version for iPhone. I believe there is a different Bluetooth version for Android.

No reviews on that one. Not sure what operating systems Andrews and Blackmerry are?

I know the BAFX one works.

I have one from my BMW 330, I should try it on the LX one of these days.

I use a kiwi plx2 wifi on the ls2 in my 80 with the dash command app. Works fine
