so i found an awesome OBD II scanner that works with your laptop on amazon. Has anyone used this and have any experience with it?

It comes with decent software and the hardware to plug it in.

I already ordered it and will let you know if it is any good. it is made by scantool.net.

I've got one like it that came with a program called "ScanTool"

It works great, the program looks like $h*t but it does what I need it to.

That program looks a lot better.

I use it in my '97 on a Panasonic Toughbook running Windows Vista and have had success with it.

Great price! ScanTool.net has been around for a while. I can't speak to the free "OBDwiz" software that they now supply, but I've used an earlier version that is still available for free from here: ScanTool.net, LLC - Downloads

I would definitely pick Bluetooth over cable

@TrickyT - ya scantool got smart............ now in order to get their latest software you have to buy one of their products ............. so now they call the latest software OBDWiz and if u are a paid customer you can get the latest version..
