PLX Devices makes an interface to connect to apple or droid phones and the $50 software app is well worth it, its a product i sell.

Hi Folks.

I'm one of the engineers with Lemur Vehicle Monitors - if anybody has any questions about our hardware or app, I'd be happy to answer them!

At the same time, we are working on a major revision of the app (to v2.0) to include more advanced diagnostics and a larger selection of parameters to monitor on your gauges. So, if anyone wants to throw items onto a wishlist it would certainly help us to provide what people like yourselves want!

So far I'm hearing:

  • Engine Temps

Oh, and thanks to jeepgod for taking the time to post about our product - much appreciated!

Regards,

-Greg Browne

Im interested in grabbing an OBD2 connector and the app. Mostly just for troubleshooting other peoples stuff or to take wheeling, my 80 doesnt have a computer and the wifes 4runner is too darn reliable

This also looks like a decent alternative, doesnt look like it protrudes as far out from the connection point as many of the other wifi units out there, with wifi to your iphone for $38, and a few free apps out there these days:

I moved my odb plug and tucked it back up behind the dash. The device is smaller than a pack of smokes and you can get every piece of info that the ecm does. With Torque you can completely customize your layout from graphs to dials to digital, change color, its limited to only your imagination. I use a HP touch pad that I converted to cynogen android so I have a nice area where I layout coolant temp, volts, fuel flow, intake air temp, pressure and a few others. Torque also allows you to pull codes and clear them as well, its by far the best bang buck wise for a diagnostic tool I've ever spent all for under $20 including the blue tooth odbii reader. On vaca now but will post a YouTube video when I get back. Find the reader on eBay or amazon just search odbII Bluetooth and look for the one that has the blue/orange sticker, usually under 15 delivered, I bought ones for all my cars and the last came from Amazon for $11

So what is the best solution currently for us Iphone users? I'd love something that could scan and clear codes, and display gauges for things like tranny temp (for the wife's GX470) and other sensor outputs.

A non-activated droid or tablet. :hillbilly:

Yep, too many possibilities using open source to ignore. I think you can buy a touch pad with cyangen off eBay for just over $100 and I see cheap 7" tablets for under $75 new all the time on fatwallet

Warezdog:

If you don't mind can you list all the info you can display from your 96 LC?

Thanks

Will do, in Florida for daughters college graduation back home late Saturday and I'll shoot a quick YouTube video of the adapter and torque running on my touch pad Sunday and post for you. One you see it you'll have to have it too, at least that's what happened to me, plus the fact I'm a cheap Dutchman and the entire cost was less than $20!

Interesting. Hadn't seen an iPhone app yet that could use the cheap Bluetooth connectors.

I don't own any of these just searching around. Looks like a lot of mixed reviews regarding properly connecting to iPhone and faulty units.

<edit>
I just bought this one (on the right)...reviews seemed better than the previous ones I posted, I will post review when I get it...the price was right.

Yea, the cheap china stuff is kinda scary....i love the $$$ but will probably stick with PLX devices since i am a dealer for them! They make a 2 1/16 gauge that does it all and they make a singe gauge pillar pod for our trucks (Autometer) or i can run the KIWI iPhone system...decisions...

Make sure you post back once you get it, if it works for you I'll be picking one up as well!

That's the one, the left one is the one that craps out or never works. If you have trouble pairing with 0000 try 1234 or 6789 as all three of mine were different! Rather than having it stickout and banging your knee on it there is plenty of stock cable to tuck it under the dash.
