Mystery….
I drive my FJ40 two weeks ago and all was fine. Went to drive up to the store and no power. The 50amp fuse coming off of the battery accessory cable that runs to the cluster was blown so I replaced it. Hooked everything up and the wires feeding my cluster started melting…..now I think I have to replace that harness and all wiring. What would cause this?

sorry to hear - the gauge cluster can only take 45 amps, so whoever installed a 50 amp fuse was already overloading the system

there shouldn't be an "accessory cable" from the battery to the cluster, so it seems like your truck is haunted by major electrical problems

again, sorry to hear - good luck

I think I’m going to just pull the entire harness and drop in a new one - that way I know everything is correct. Has anyone used the aftermarket 12 circuit harnesses? It appears you can’t get an original and coolerman Is no longer making reproductions

I got a generic 14 circuit harness from amazon and i had some issues with it but have them all sorted out now for the most part. i still don't have a reverse light working correctly but that is an Id10T code that i haven't fixed yet.
