So this has probably been covered a million ways but here is my cheap home brew water system that has been serving my family well for several years. Since I was filling it up figured I would share.

I used a cheap but decent Sceptor water can and removed the pour spout. In its place is a peice of 1/8” aluminum. I have tapered this piece around its outer circumference so that the stock gasket from the pour spout fits. Through this passes a water line. The aluminum is drilled and tapped 1/4 NPT and a male barb fitting is threaded through and on the other side a female barb is threaded to the male. Next to that is a tubeless valve stem off a bicycle. When you want water just pump it full of air and enjoy several minutes of high quality H2O.

I dig it.... But, (you knew would get some wise guy telling you how to do it better)...

I would consider a blow off valve or regulator on the feedline for the Schrader valve or cap, or maybe instead of a Schrader, run it to a hand valve, regulator, then air hose fitting.

The issue is over pressuring it and blowing the top off, or if your unlucky exploding the can. I say to put the valve, as with a female air fitting connection it would allow water to flow back and out, and the regulator would keep things under a safe pressure, if you have an air hose fitting then you could leave it connected to your OBA and not have to put the tire chuck on it periodically.

I like what you did though, simple.

Thanks for the input! That’s a great idea. I was worried about just that initially but after 2-3 years no issues even when left in a hot car. I usually pressurize it to about 14 PSI so not huge pressures. If I do anything else it will be just to build a genuine on board water system with a 12 volt pump. It it were a higher pressure system I would likely just screw in a burst disc. I don’t know why but I just love the simplicity of those little suckers.

I love the simplicity!!

Nicely done sir!
