Does it leak? If so, just pump it full of grease

Not sure if it leaks. The PO stripped the service plug and then drilled a hole through it so he could still fill it. Capped the hole with some kind of goop. I used an easy out and got the plug out and put in a new one. The inside looks dry though. I'm just trying to find out what type of fluid to put in and how much.

If yours is suspect, I can get you into a nice, well working unit that I just took out of my 72. clean and tight, driven by an old lady in the flatlands, only on the weekends to and from church...until I got a hold of it... ha ha ha! :hillbilly:

No seriously, let me know if yours needs help and you can have mine. It worked great and was nice and tight. It was just time to go power for me.

Cheers!

Don't the early steering boxes take 90 wt? It's been a long time since I've had one...

Fill it 'till it runs out the fill plug...just like a transfer case and engine block...
