is there such a thing?
I am rebuilding a 98 4runner rear end, for the elocker, but the drums are trash. the backing plate is rusted through and just about everything else is rusted beyond repair. Wondering if the drums from my 90 4runner or my 85 pick up rear end can be swapped over? Or if i should just look into going discs in the back.

Thanks in advance

The E-brake stuff is different but otherwise everything else is pretty much the same. The backing plates are not easy to swap out....need to separate them from the axle shaft which means replacing the bearings and the ABS tone rings...not cheap.

85 brakes are completely different

86 used unique shoes and wheel cyl (which can be swapped with later parts)

87-00 are pretty much the same. Backing plates are unique to 4runner and pickup.

The only big difference to look for is if your 4 runner has abs. Otherwise parts should swap between the 2 4 runners

are you planning on putting the elocker axle from the 3rd gen underneath the 85 or 90?....im pretty sure the widths are way different.
