Door window: short?

Driver's door window doesn't completely close and it whistles. From the outside it looks closed, does from the inside as well. However if you use a squeegee on the window you can quite clearly feel the squeegee 'fall' off the top of the glass into a gap between the glass and the windlace. With the tint on the glass you can't easily see the gap.

This is a manual crank window and the doors have the vent windows, so it is a single arm window lifter mechanism. I've already adjusted the crank mech. in the door for maximum lift. Still has a gap. Anyone ever seen this before? Possible that it is replacement glass that was cut just a bit short? Any other ideas on how to fix it?

If the reg isn't running to "click" id say glass is hanging on track.

It is a pretty firm and sudden stop like the regulator has run out of travel. Nothing obvious visible in the track that would cause it to stop, but will investigate further.

Worn out rollers on the regulator. Is the rubber/felt still in the bottom track?

Is this a 'new' problem or an old one that's now being a pain? Someone else's rig?

Window has always whistled in the time that I've owned this 4rnnr. When I tried to adjust the regulator in the door to lift higher I looked at all of the mechanism and nothing stood out as worn. Only thing that really stood out was that the glass was almost to the bottom of the channel that grips the bottom of the glass itself. As if the rubber is thinner to nearly non-existent there. I've pondered perhaps spacing it up in that channel is what needs to happen.

Can you grab the glass (one hand inside, one hand outside) and work it up to close it any? It sounds like something is blocking it to me though...

Tried that, no go.

Raining pretty good here, don't be surprised if we get more mudslides in the burnt areas. Supposed to dry out on Thursday, hope to be able to investigate these ideas better then.

I had this type of behavior in my old 4Runner, turns out one of the teeth on the regulator was stripped off. New regulator fixed it. You can get them aftermarket for surprisingly cheap.
