Does trans temp control gearbox gear selection when cold ? ? ?

I've noticed when I get in the Cruiser when cold it holds the overdrive (or 5th / final drive) from engaging until I'm suspecting a certain temp is met?
The reason I say this is it has a HD valve body installed and likes to be up in the revs slightly more in the range of 80-95 kmh (300hp atw)
Can I disconnect something so the gearbox (A750) behaves this way all the time? Or is it not sensing temps at all and its purely a oil/viscosity thing?

If you have a 5 speed auto, can't you just manually shift it into 4th?

You are correct in saying that some Toyotas won't go into overdrive until a certain oil temp is reached in the transmission. I would think fooling the sensor in the transmission could work, but if you have a problem with revs at a certain speed, isn't gearing a better solution? Do you drive regularly at 80-95 kmh?

I'm not seeing why this is a problem for you, why would you want to force it to shift into OD before the trans fluid is warmed up? To answer your question though, yes, the temp dictates when it shifts into OD. I have a scangauge on my '99 and have watched the number go up, followed immediately by a shift into 4th. I'm sure it's engineered like that for a reason, so why change it?
