Your comment abou missing the BJ60 scares me. I love my 60 but it's a not a highway cruiser. I truely worry that I'll spend a lot of dough on a used 450, sell my 60 and then end up missing it. ARe you still glad to have made the switch?
The thought of quite crusing, listening to my stereo, with AC on and then getting to my favorite back woods lake over a super tough rough sounds so inviting. Maybe I should start another thread on the topic of upgrading from a 60 to an 80 and the regret factor out there. I look to you comments.

I'm just trying to scare you

! The difference between a 60 and an 80 as a daily driver is huge and you will not regret the change. I had an 82 BJ60 and as much as I loved it, it was a harsh truck and lots of stuff was starting to go (all the small bits). If I had (or if you have) the cash I would have kept the 60 (and I do plan to buy one again someday as a 'hobby' truck).
As you mentioned, it is really nice to have the extra power, leather seats, full lockers, etc and be driving along a nice trail with sunroof open and 6 pack CD player going! I find that I have the same love-hate relationship with this truck as my 60 - I love it 90% of the time, but hate it at times for requiring some new $500 part.
I use mine to haul kids, dog, dirt, lumber, etc and I think it makes a wonderful daily driver. You may find that you miss a few things: the 60 is a really simple truck / easily field maintainable (I had mine in Yellowknife); not positive, but the 60 seems to have more cargo/sleeping space; diesel is great - I would get something like 900km/tank; diesel is great in 1st low going downhill there was so much compression that I could probably have hopped out taken a pee and then jumped back into the truck

; diesel is great you can drive around in the water without problem
but the 80: more power, better safety (IMHO), lockers, comfort items (sunroof, leather, CD player, comfortable seats), less rust, etc
Good luck finding an LX450
Cheers, Hugh
