does grease go bad sitting on the shelf?

sound stupid i know but i have a bearing packer that has been sitting on the shelf in my garage for over 10 years!
next question what grease do you guys use in your wheel bearings?
there is a lot more types of grease out there than when i packed the bearings on a 78 Malibu!

as long as there is no water/moisture in it, Mike I have a gallon of Moly grease if you want me to bring it with me?

Worst case there might be some caking in the hose or tip and a tiny bit of carrier oil separation, just crack open the cap and use a long piece of coat hanger wire to stir it a little bit.

What happened, finally clean up the garage?

no this is in my bearing packer, not the grease gun!
been on the shelf for a long time unused!

You have to taste it to be sure. If it is sour, its no good. If it tastes greasy, then its still good.

FWIW, I wouldn't use moly fortified grease in high speed wheel bearings. Mobil 1 synthetic (red) is a good choice. Save the moly for the birfields.
