Thank you very much for the fast reply. You reply really has really helped as I was trying to buy the same board from AliExpress for 240$ but I think I am going to ship to for fix. My issue is that the MFD doesn't connect with DVD changer, each time I hit the Disc button it is prompting with "The external system is not connected". The issue seems to be with PIN 60 but not so sure. The RSA isn't working as well. I did post my issue here if you are interested to see my intial debugging DVD changer & RSA. How much did cost if I may to ask, and which place where you sent it to? Thanks again!
$240 sounds right for the board. Can't remember where i got it, but it was off ebay. Same original manufacturer as the OEM board. So, basically an OEM board (with the same week solder). I think the solder 'repair' done in NYC was $100-150. Did that through ebay as well. If i get a chance i'll dig back through my records to find out who did it. Many of these companies don't want to repair a board that the owner has already tried to solder, so once i figured out it wasn't working, i shipped the board to NYC. I don't expect it to last forever, but it's been doing fine. To have working MFD (and AC controls, backup camera, etc) is worth it. Not sure about the DVD connection issue, but it's the same message you get with the PIN problem.

Thanks again for the help! If you can find the link on eBay, that would definitely help.

Ah, I did order the board from AliExpress. Some screenshots attached.

Thanks again for your help! I found the seller offering the service for 165$. I will try to talk to him before sending it. Though I am surprised that the board you bought isn't working, the serial number 86114 seems to match my board.

It’s an exact duplicate of original. So, the “weak link” persists. It’s not an “improved” board. Although to be fair, it’s probably the coupling of the board to the rest of the MFD that may be the problem, not the board itself

I think you are right, the issue might be as in the picture below;

So, when you installed the board your purchased from AliExpress, did it work but exhibiting the same issue with old one or just didn't work at all.

It worked for a minute I think. No more. The guys in NYC did a great job for me. Or I was lucky.

Can I make a deal with you? I would like to try out the board you purchased from AliExpress on my MFD, if it worked, I will purchase it from you. Let me know and I will PM you the details. Thanks

Does anyone know the size of these 4 bolts that mount the unit to the dash? I may be needing a replacement and I am not having much luck finding the part number.

Hi all, I have a 2004 Land Cruiser that has had this issue for ~6 months. I tried the OP's steps once and was only briefly successful. Planning on trying it one more time and adding additional solder before giving up on this board.

Folks who purchased the aliexpress board - has anyone been UNSUCCESSFUL? Trying to gauge the risk of spending $300 on a sketchy website vs sending the MFD off to a repair man for possibly more $$

Thanks

Did the 60 pin re-solder by re-heating old solder. Just wanted to share my experience to add to the wealth of knowledge. Did it twice, once quickly about a half second and re-installed with no luck after briefly starting the car. Removed and reheated old solder a little longer (under 2 seconds) and re-installed and briefly started the car and had no luck. Frustrated, I just put everything back together so I could use the truck. Third time I started the car the MFD worked. Did ECU need to be on a lot longer to boot up the MFD? I don't know all I know that it is working now. Did cable movement maybe re-connect loose terminals in plug connectors? Maybe -I pushed some wires into the harness connector as a little insurance that wires did not get pulled out from connector. There has been somebody else in the dash before, considering one screw was missing from bracket. I would like to add that the Harbor Freight pry tools were perfect for the job ($9) and not to use any other tool other than a automotive trim kit tool because a lot of force is needed to pop the vents off. Another suggestion is to use a piece of rigid thin plastic cut off a milk bottle or ketchup bottle to insert in the grove between the vent and dash. This allows the pressure of the pry tool to dissipate the pressure against the dash to prevent damaging the surface and lets the pry tool to slide in a little more easily allowing you to slide (left and right, as well as in and out) without abrading dash surface. A 2 inch wide piece of plastic or less is what you can use and cut smaller from there. Good Luck and I will update if my problem pops up again. It has only been one day.

For 300$, I would buy the full aftermarket smart navigation. I don't think it is worth it to be honest as the old navi didn't have enough sophistications compared to the after market one. Just my opinion.

Do you have any suggestions on a good aftermarket product? Might have to go this route. Thanks!

Had similar luck, worked for a short time and now screen hasn't been on again for about a week. What did you eventually do?

So I do not have the black screen yet, but my ac randomly says check ac connection, radio randomly turns off, screen freezes, etc. Would this be a 60 pin issue? 2004 LC for reference

Sorry, I missed your response. I ended up sending it to AutoBeYours. I think it was a $300 flat rate and I had it back in a week. I did this around New Years, the issue hasn’t returned. Very very happy and relieved 🙂

My screen never went black, and I had all of the same symptoms as you. Definitely the 60 pin issue!
