Thank you DomSmith for this detailed original post! While this darn near microscopic work was beyond my skill and eyesight, it allowed me to work with an auto electronics specialist to make an efficient and complete repair. I went from very intermittent control over HVAC, no backup camera, and radio function to full functionality. It's great to have consistent heat again! I have included photos of the very fine pin 60 crack, and what it looks like after repair. If it's helpful to other members in the tri-state area (PA,NJ,DE) I worked with a terrific shop that now knows how to do this thanks to this post: Keystone Auto Electrical in West Chester, PA. Ask for Jerry - he is awesome! Thanks again DomSmith!

Awesome write up!!

Funny timing too. I just pulled my MFD out last night and boxed it up to ship out for repair to the tune of $300.

Looking forward to never hearing the dreaded CLICK again. Those that have bad MFD's know what I am talking about. Hear the click and boom, everything goes black, radio off, etc.

It's worth noting that the previous owner of my truck had PIN60 repaired 4 years ago. I talked to the shop and they said they can re-repair it and they have developed a new technique that is more durable and reliable. Have no idea what that entails.
Where did you send it? I live in Indianapolis Indiana and need some help with this issue. Thanks.

I’m not the person you were replying to, but I had the same problem and shipped my malfunctioning MFD to AutoBeYours to be repaired. It was $300 and quick turnaround. That was about 2 years ago and the issue has not returned

Autobeyours seems to be a popular pick. Before I fixed mine, the owner, Steve and I were chatting and he said he can still fix them for people.

I have an 01 with a similar issue, black screen, no radio. Luckily can control HVAC by physical buttons. Obviously different style MFD, but curious if anyone else has fix for these earlier models?

Having similar issues with mine. Backup camera and navigation are intermittent. Went into the diag menu by pressing the Info button on the side of the nav unit and turning on/off the parking lights with the key in acc mode and this is what I get. Anyone know how to translate these?

As another person who greatly benefited from this magnificent post, I’m just here to revive this thread. I have a 2004 LC. My NAV/MFD was only working about 20% of the time for a week before I found this thread. Now it’s back to full functionality.

Not sure if anyone said this before, but if you are attempting this repair, I recommend putting painter’s tape to cover as much of the rest of the pins and motherboard around the 60 pin, as long as it doesn’t impede your access to the pin. I added a touch of solder to the 60 pin and accidentally dropped a dot of it on the mother board. I was able to gently scrape it off but I think I disrupted a clear coat on the motherboard. Nothing bad happened but I was on edge before I was able to plug everything back up and test it for a couple weeks.
