I rabbit holed on this many times over the years. You want the non-hardening gasket over rtv… it’s the closest thing to what they used in the factory, and I’m not going to argue with a bunch of Japanese engineers.

I still haven't started the roof rack install and am wondering if I should do it before LCDC as I only have one more weekend (tomorrow and Sunday) to get the truck ready and I have a few other must do's to go. (won't be able to spend any truck time the weekend before LCDC). What is a realistic amount of time to di the install? Can a guy do this solo with another pair of hands to lift the rack and when needed, do this in 2-3 hours? Everything takes me longer than most so if typical is 2-3 hours I'll spend 4-5. The other thing I seem to run into with projects is that I break something or discover something that need fixing and my scope grows or I don't have something I need and I'm an hour away from a city where I can get it or its Sunday and I'm screwed. I can just see me dropping the nut assembly into the head liner.... I believe the only thing I need beside the Dissent parts is the gasket rtv which I have.
