Maybe it would be good for people to see how the bumpers he makes come together on a vehicle. I've seen some comments that make me think people are expecting a bumper that is like man of the other bumpers out there. One thing to keep in mind, many of the sections of the bumper will be replaceable with out a welder. That means bolting things together.

Good idea, @Road Apple can you give us a close up pic of just the bolt ons? The stingers and full bar are bolt on but are there any other?

Point of clarification for others.... no matter what the full hoop is separate from the above price. This way if someone just wants a small stinger they can get it and not pay more than anyone else. There is no paying full price and not getting what you want. Now if people want a full hoop they can order the parts and get it done themselves.
@SteelHunterFJ80 I understand I would have to pay whatever the cost is for what I want and we are just “jumping the line”, but if he’s to busy to make the bumper the way I want then why would I buy it? when realistically a steel ARB with full bar is $1,020 at 4wheelParts with zero shipping cost. I love his work, he’s not the “big box store” , it’d be supporting someone like us and that’s why I’d be willing to pay double plus shipping. Maybe I’m just being sour cause I really wanted it 😆

Yeah I totally get it. I feel the exact same way. I really want this bumper as its NOT big box and love the angles while keeping with the 80s styling. The light positions are perfect too.

My post may have come off snarky so went back and edited my post to better address what you were saying. That's what I get for ripping off quick replies while laying flooring in my house. My apologies

The truck is still at the Dissent shop, but I have a few pictures that are fairly close up.

On the aluminum versions does anyone know if the full-bar portion is made out of aluminum or steel? I have the tubing bender to make up the bars, just curious for welding purposes.

This might be a hard question to know without
comparing, but would this fit around the factory winch on a HDJ81?
Per Dissent, If you could compare the HDJ winch dimensions to a Warn 8 to 12.5 and its within those specs it will fit no problem.

Alright, spoke to Ben again yesterday and we are ready to get this group buy rolling. One thing that I didn't understand was that he needed minimum 5 orders in steel and/or aluminum. Since I and @Bloodhound80 wanted steel we might have to switch ours to aluminum. I asked Ben which bumper material he uses on his own rig and he said aluminum. Better gas mileage, less weight over the front end and just as strong due to the increased thickness. Benhas had no problems with his and he wheels with it. SO because of that, I will be switching to aluminum. @Bloodhound80 would you be willing to switch over to aluminum as well?

Lastly, I will be PM'ing all of you to confirm Paypal accounts so Ben can send you an invoice. I will gather up all the orders and send them to Ben. Remember to clearly state all the options you want when reply so I can copy and past Ben to avoid any errors. Thanks!

Apologies if I missed this somewhere in the thread or on the website. Are the bumpers modular? There appear to be a lot of bolt heads in all the pictures. I like the idea of an aluminum bumper, but don't want to have to worry about it rattling apart. Thanks!

It is modular and it isn't completely one metal. I think the common term is hybrid as it is steel and aluminum. His bumpers are very popular on 100 and 200 series LCs and i have not heard of anyone even mentioning rattling or any bolts coming loose. This would also be the case for all steel bumpers that he makes and I have not seen anyone mention it. Maybe someone can comment more directly, but personally i don't think it is an issue. Search youtube for 200 series and dissent bumper and you can see someone doing an install. Might help you get a sense of how it comes together.

I've had the dissent rear bumper installed on my 100 series for a about a year now. Zero issues with rattling or any of the fasteners loosening up, and that's with a rear bumper that has many more moving parts and bolts than this front bumper will have.

Would these be possible to obtain in kit form? A couple guys I camped with this weekend are being a bad influence on me. Completed, these are out of my budget at the moment, but, in kit form, perhaps???
Not at this time unfortunately. As I understand it, this bumper can be difficult to weld for a novice or layman and when dissent has created kits they got tons of follow up requests on how to put it together and the customer probably would have been ahead in time and money if they had bought a complete bumper. On top of that, this bumper is steel and aluminum so the welding is more difficult and specialized. Hope that helps!

So did we get enough people on board for a group buy? What's the count up to?

So of i wanted an aluminum front bumper for my 100, could I be included?
The answer to that is buried in this thread, but I believe the answer is no.
