iOverlander has been a standby for a long time. Recently I took a trip to Michigan with the intent of camping as much as I could. I used iOverlander, but actually found the app Free Campsites to be more useful. Even though it's geared toward the RV crowd, it had plenty of dispersed sites too.

Also, a tip. Once you pick a site you can plug the gps coords into Google Maps, and it does a rather good job getting you there.

With the exception of my favorite local lake campground, I have not paid for a campsite since learning about IOverlander 2 years ago in Alaska.
