The top is from JC Whitney and the Bottom is from SOR. I prefer the SOR one as the channel is narrower and I think will fit the body better.

For me, any weatherstrip combo is going to mess with my doors. On a couple of them, the top of the window frame almost touches the body.

I used the JC Whitney stuff for the tailgate pieces.

weatherstripping

Nat,
I used the SOR and there is a problem with turning the tight corners on the doors. Also, the stuff is pretty thick when the door closes. I'm thinking of switching to the Whitney because I got a sample and it seems that it flattens better than the SOR. Just my two cents.

X2. I think the jc whitney stuff works better. My .02

i porterda, i have the whitney, thought it was too thick as i could only close one door. i cut it to fit all four doors, had it mounted for a couple days then took it off, i'd be more than willing to give the SOR product a shot, wanna trade?

I did some compression comparisons. I think the SOR one takes up less room. In my case, no matter what I put on, it will be tight.

Nat I bet you are very excited that your pig is almost finished. I also just re-rubbered my 55 and I was a little disappointed in the fit of what was available. I used SOR and JC whitney on my 55. The doors shut much tighter and the windows will just barely roll up and down (tight felt). I am hoping that as things wear/break in it will get much better. Has anyone used a silicone lube on the window felt? What color are you doing the interior? Are you having the silverado seat recovered? Anyways awesome job on the 55 can't wait to see some finished photos.

Ryan.

Thanks Ryan! The silverado seats are staying the same. The rear bench seat is being recovered to match the pattern and fabric of the silverado seats. I have dark charcoal grey carpet down, as of yesterday  The door and cargo panels will be recovered in black vinyl again.

One trick I learned installing window channel in my FJ40..........to help seat it and make it less stiff, I run a plastic ball point pen body up and down in the channel. It seats the stuff and is also wider than the window glass, so it breaks down the felt a bit.

I haven't tried it on the 55 yet............I hope it works as well.
