Super soaker for me today. It rained on me for an hour and a half. It was a little unsettling when my phone started screaming a location-specific tornado warning 😲

This would be in the oh s*** category:

(I carry a snake bite kit in my bags when I ride for precisely this reason)

Brown snakes are in the "not good" category of snake bites
It is considered the world's second-most venomous land snake after the inland taipan (Oxyuranus microlepidotus), based on its LD50 value (subcutaneous) in mice.[a] The main effects of its venom are on the circulatory system: coagulopathy, haemorrhage (bleeding), cardiovascular collapse, and cardiac arrest. One of the main components of the venom is the prothrombinase complex pseutarin-C, which breaks down prothrombin.

Came to Prince Edward Island for my daughter’s softball tournament and brought the gravel bike. PEI has a great rail trail network going from tip to tip of the island. The ride itself was 40.8 miles. I hit 42 total as I had to backtrack to a bakery for some pregame sustenance.

went to the mountains again. biking has been pretty quiet this year for various reasons so it was really nice to ride an area i love. sadly for “fire break reasons” part of the trail system was logged. it’s really too bad as it really changed the face of the trail.

thankfully much of it was the same beautiful riding that was came for. we even came across a black bear and two cubs of one of our trails. thankfully they’re was an offshoot trail right in that area we took to give them

Was away for two weeks on vacation, then riding the same trails, so haven’t been posting much.
But.,, today I added a few trails that I haven’t been on in a few years. Ended up with the longest and hilliest ride of the season. Exactly 15 miles with over 1050 feet of climbing.

Man, I tore up the trails. Felt great throughout, and showed those hills a thing or two.

Pleasantly fatigued now. 😃

Went out on a standard 11 miler in the woods on Thursday. The fact I’m writing this is a miracle. I should be dead now. In the blink of an eye, on the road to another trailhead less than a quarter mile away a speeding vehicle (LandCruiser no less!) nearly tboned me on a blind corner. I look, looked, looked, listened before crossing the street. Never saw the car, only heard the long horn blast and locked up wheels skidding on the tar.

Brief oh I’m dead, looked behind and there he was. Verbally ripped him a new a****** and left him idling in the road with traffic stopped behind him.

Blink of an eye and Divine Providence. Finished the ride and went again yesterday.

Drove to the scene today for an over view. Posted 25 mph signs everywhere.

I told my wife two weeks ago about that stretch of road and how dangerous it can be. Premonition? Dunno.

Anyway, bike safely!

A couple days ago I biked from my house out to the southernmost dead end on the Juneau road system and back. This area was the site of the Alaska Gastineau gold mine about 100 years ago. 14 miles round trip, over 800 ft. of elevation gain, temperature 51F. Salmon are running at Sheep creek so there were anglers and eagles vying for some eats. The route goes by the biggest snow slide zone in the Juneau area. This chute usually blocks the road during winter for a while, either because of an avalanche or the threat of one. The road is paved but has little traffic, especially on a Sunday AM such as when I was riding.

Nice little ride on the north side of Carson City, NV yesterday. I usually travel with my bike and use AllTrails to find places to ride. Was an easy pedal from the hotel.

Absolutely perfect beach days here in Cardiff. The water is warm, the surf is big from two east Pacific Ocean hurricanes and the weather is awesome. Rode twice today and surfed once. Yolo...
