Sorry..late to the thread but Clay covered the bases pretty well. If you need any pics from underneath of the mounting points let me know or any other particulars just ask.

what i shoulda said was not ALL the holes,,, i drilled and tapped the extras needed for the bellhousing mounts and did not use the cross member mount.

Not to hijack but I just wanted to clarify. So you didn't put a crossmember on the rear of the tranny, just the front bell housing mounts? If that is the case did you ever have any issues with it?

I've owned this pig since January 2006 ish. I have had no problems with the way Clay mounted it in there...however that being said Pigwald is a pavement queen. Oh yes, it's been to Rausch Creek and Paragon, but only as far as the staging areas. Seems I recall when out in Phoenix talking with Clay during the purchase, that I/we came to the conclusion that there really wasn't anything wrong with mounting it the way it was originally mounted...split case and all. Thats my recollection anyway.

yeah todd thats how i remember it, but we were bouncing around baby head rocks all day.

there was never any known issues or problems with the bell housing mount as found on 40 and 55 series, so i went with it when i swapped the 60 series parts. the extra length or weight may have made for the switch from toyota or maybe it was just modernization, i dunno.. when i did the marlin doubler i retained the bell housing mounts and added a home built cross member because THAT is extra length and weight.

TemeculaTim and I are getting together Saturday to take some measurements from his Pig. However, I would be interested to see how others have their mounts and if there are any variances in mounting.

I thinking I may get the location dimensions, then suspend the 2F on a hoist and 'mock up' whatever mounts I need. I'll get a better feel for what is needed after Sat.

About the short shaft water pump; What year(s) am I looking for? Again, 2F's are new to me, so I don't know much of their history.

in the meantime I'm working on de-smogging the 2F as well. Anything I should watch out for while doing this? I'm just plugging and removing whatever is smog related.

Sitting here at work in Eggstone, PA counting the minutes before I head here https://forum.ih8mud.com/trails-eve...ic-2010-rausch-creek-pa-july-8-10-2010-a.html for the weekend. I'll be able to help out with pics etc...when I'm back re: the desmogging. As far as the water pump...go early 2F ~ 76-78 I think. Like a dumbass, when mine went @ year ago, not thinking clearly at the time, I got one for a 83/84 motor......now I have no fan in behind and an electric pusher out front. Basically, waiting for this newish WP to crap out to get the right early style back in there..

i'm pretty sure we talked about that WP mr todd. but yes, the early 2F water pump will bolt right in and use the stock fan, as todd can attest to the original set-up. but i dont remember if i used the later fan with clutch or the early non clutch fan,, what was it?

the stock style motor mount frame plates are incredibly simple to make as you will see on tims rig. i would just copy the style and keep it stock, however if i was doing what your doing i would change one thing, the front mounts will take the much better 60 series rubbers, the rear, if you look at tims, is a hocky puck looking thing that is taller but otherwise the same type of mounting,,, i would move your frame mount up the 1/4" or so to make up the difference and run the 60 series motor mounts in the back also.

I think I have the larger 60 series rubber plus a bunch of other mounts. I'm taking all these loose ones to Tim's tomorrow.

The block has these huge mounts on the PS. Not even sure what mounts in that bracket. The DS looks to have your basic Cruiser mount.

Thanks again for all the help!!

awesome,,, pics with numbers

1 and 2 are your motor mounts for the frame, weld'em back on, dont know why the bell mounts arent there if he kept those.

3-4 are bell housing mounts

5-6 are motor mounts

8- crap, theyre the aftermarket ones anyway

7- good ones

i dont know about that big thing pretending to be a motor mount, prolly alt or smog pump mount with the AC up high, i'd replace it with the older one, but keep it just in case.

the second pic of the bell,,, loose that bracket #4 goes there.

A/C compressor mount - may come in handy if you ever want AC in the Pig!

Met with T-Tim this am. Great guy.

We (thoroughly) measured the location for the front mounts. We also sorted out the box-o-mounts. Luckily, Tim has plenty of Cruisers on hand to use as reference.

1 & 2 are 40 mounts, but will work no prob.

3 & 4 are bell-housing mounts for a 40. The long DS mount (#4) on a 40 goes over the frame rail.
I need this:

By looking at the pictures, the PS side (#3) looks like it is the same.

I'll probably have to swap it. I believe there would be interference with the PS shock tower.

Tim also gave me the frame mounts for the bell-housing he recently cut off his 55 frame, so I'm set there. I'm going to install the T/C rear cross-member as well (since I have it). I'll have to have some buckets fabbed for that.

So all I need is: 55 bell-housing mounts and rubber!!

 ! ! !

I just got mounts and rubber yesterday. I greatly appreciate it however! I owe you the brew(s) anyway. :D

40 v. 55 mounts

BTW: There is an obvious difference between the 40 and 55 bell-housing mounts.

Top: 40 mounts
Bottom: 55 mounts

I believe I have the short shaft WP.
