I want to change over to the Delco 12Si alternator 3 wire or similar on the 40. I'm still using the Toyota stock alt and I noticed it's a 3 wire. This is going on my mid 70's SBChev 350. I've got a home made bracket for the old alt but I would like to go stock alt chev mounts. Is it easily doable as far as the connections etc? I use the long water pump.

Not familiar with a 12SI, am familiar with a 10SI (two plug-in wires plus white 10 gauge wire), and am familiar with a CS-130 (four plug-in wires plus white 10 gauge wire). I'll scan the wiring info for 10SI and CS130 to Landcruiser/Chevota, send it in a few minutes.

Here's the instructions:

Scan 4.webp

OK I believe the 10 and the 12SI are very similar, I'm running a HEI distributer, but I'm scratching my head, I don't see an alternator on those diagrams, I think I can figure it out.
Thanks Jim

The drawing I scanned comes out blury when I bring it up here on Mud ??? The top drawing shows wires that go from your rig to the two wire plug-in. The drawing just below it shows where wires go from your rig to the four wire plug-in. I could actually fax that page to you if you have a fax number ???

Idk where Downey's article is from. You might checkout Mad Electrcals website. I've never bought anything from them, but they have good tutorials on gm alt wiring. I run a 3 wire setup with an idiot light using my batt as the junction block.

Downey off-road file. Do we have a files section. If so I never knew. lol.

A few section would be a beneficial addition to the FAQ section, but only if it was vetted by the proper powers that be.

Strictly technical materials, no opinions.
