Defroster Vent Install (2 Viewers)

I recently removed the defroster vents on my 77 FJ45 so I could clean and inspect the wiper motor. I'm trying to re-install the passenger side vent (LHD) but am having trouble because the wiper linkage is in the way. I tried turning on the wiper to move the linkage to see if that would help but it didn't. Any tips or tricks to get the vent reinstalled? I've attached pics of the passenger and drivers side.

According to SOR, there is a left and right vent. Did you have both off and is it possible you have them reversed? I don't have any idea if this is even possible but just a thought...

i did have them both off but i have the vent holes lined up so i don't have them backward, although i did when i initially tried to reinstall them!
