200 lb buck at 40 mph
didnt brake, didnt see him , just jumped right in front of me.
Will any bar prevent this?
The cruiser is good as new, new lights are clear and bright.
Drove it for a few days then drove it to the dealer. No mech damage.
Will this kill resale like it did the buck?
Im taking up deer hunting.

An ARB would of saved it.

I hit a cow elk (guessing 300lbs). She jumped out in front of my 80 at about 65 mph.

I swerved hard and hit the last foot of her. Spun her right off the road. There was some crap on the front of my truck, and a mark in the powder coat, but other than than nothing! I was very glad I had my ARB. It saved me $500 that night and a huge pain in the butt.

So far the score is
ARB 1. Aminals 0.
However I don't care to push my luck. :)

Anyways, it looks like you hit the buck square on and he never came up on the hood. So I have full confidence an ARB would of saved it. But get a full wrap around one, not the center hoop only.

Cheers,
Nick

This is precisely why I got the Deluxe with the cage and not the Sahara with the chrome bolt-on hoop. May not look as elegant, but how elegant is a smashed in fender or grille?

That's exactly why I wish there was more offered for the LX than just the Sahara bar too. Josh I agree with Nick that an ARB deluxe bar would have paid for itself most likely.

Did your airbags go off?

Yes, you better look out on our FootHill Expressway. :D

Cheers,

No airbags , he jumped into the grill not a lot of bumper,
he rode the grill for 50 yards while I decelerated then fell off and I duke boyed right over him, Ye ha:eek:

I think Im getting the ARB, I want to keep this cruiser for a while
do you keep your bumper?

I was on woodruff road believe it or not

I heard Aussies Hit a lot of Kangaroos?
Are there any drawbacks to the ARB?
Would I absorbe more energy in a real crash? Have you noticed consumer reports and NTSB havent crashed a cruiser

Only real drawback is the extra weight (especially on the nose). IMHO the benefits far outweigh this, plus, most importantly, THEY LOOK REALLY DAMN COOL!!! ;)

Look at the pics and read the story on this page:

I am very glad I have mine. In a front end collision I KNOW it adds to my safety. Mostly I got it for a winch mount and animals. I live in rural Canada. Lots of animals around. I did not want to have a claim against my truck. Its a huge pain in the but. Plus if I hit something, I want to be able to drive home. Not be stuck.

Anyways, one more animal and it will of paid for itself and more. I know it will. Its just a mater of time. I am 23 and that was the first animal. I am going to keep the cruiser for awhile, so one day it will happen. This is the sad reality. Thanks for ARB. It saved me many many hours building my own.

Anyways, Sorry about your truck. Maybe get a ARB why your truck is getting fixed. Offer to pay the difference over an OEM bumper. I cant see the insurance company saying no. Its not costing them anymore, and they are less likely to see a future claim.

Best of luck
Cheers,
Nick

To do this the best way is to get a repair estimate from the insurance adjuster, Have that checked by a reputable body shop and then request that they cut you a check rather than pay the shop. They send you a check and then you can do what you want to fix-up the truck.

If you want a new ARB and Billet grill then in it goes .. or being from SC if you want to cut four foot of telephone pole and bolt it to the front for your next encounter with the great outdoors you can do that and have some change left over for cold beverages.

Have you considered the Smartbar ?
