Here is a pretty easy way to put holes in a plate for mounting a spare tire.

Use an old brake drum. Grab a few of those 5/16 Phillips head bolts you have been keeping for years but have not found a use for.

Hold the brake drum up and mark the holes. Drill a 5/16 hole and insert the Phillips head bolt. The head is approximately 1/2"

Clamp the brake drum on over the Phillips head.

Drill remaining holes.

The all line up as they should.

How thick is the plate you used for the tire mount? I have seen the suggestion of 3/8 and 1/2 inch. 1/2 inch seems like overkill when compared to the OEM plates. I'm at that stage now. Thanks, Jeff
 
I think I found my running problem that occurs after it gets hot.
The machine shop took a lot of material off already and it needs another .090" to clean this up.
They are not going to do it. I'm hoping that I can make a newer 2F 3 piece manifold work.
